INTRODUCTION

Sanaa Youth Group is registered by the government of Kenya it  seeks to support the unemployed youth of Bungoma South through skill building, talent support and nurturing, self awareness, capacity building and Hiv/Aids awareness which are all geared towards intellectual, and social-economic empowerment. In line with the Vision 2030 launched in the first quarter of this year, as part of the key objective towards an enhanced economic realization for the benefit of the society now and in future.

It is our utmost commitment to participate in the process of making a difference in every youth’s life and future within Bungoma South District and upon confirmed successful programs to extend to the larger Bungoma District. We will be judged as to the differences made in each and every Youth’s life. Thereby, it is our belief, and hope, that through the support of well intentioned and meaningful organizations, Sanaa Youth Group  will be given the opportunity to nurture and develop talents. In addition, we want to see a society that embraces gender equality and self awareness through addressing issues that affect the society.

As time ticks on, more and more youth are left behind. In a world where politicians and educators alike are claiming no youth should be left behind, it is pivotal for us to take responsibility for these young people and act now.

SKILL BUILDING

Sanaa Youth Group  if supported is set to be an opener to an enormous scheme that will see a lot of improvement in many lives of youth through positive participation in productive, entertaining  yet educative activities . Our corporate social responsibility is  to sharpen the skills of the youth through active participation and exposure in different fields of Arts.We also have a team of professionals who are ready to technically support and advice the group, this will not only enable the youth gain meaningful skills but also good guidance and monitoring.

OBJECTIVES

-  Reduce  drug abuse  and crimes committed by the idle youth as well as help in poverty reduction.

-Promote gender issues and task analysis as a way of empowering  community
 development through our productions.

-Promote art which will in the long run empower the youth economically and psychologically.

- To establish and provide opportunities in which resources and manpower can be channeled for local and international outreach .

In this competitive world it is important for the youth  to get more skills in sustaining their lives through art and other activities that can generate income as well as occupy them.

 MISSION STATEMENT

It is understood that through active participation in the community the youth will have the opportunity to develop their minds, integrity and general perspective of life. In return, the community will realize the many benefits offered by the change in approach towards creativity and general challenges at present and in future. Furthermore, through this group’s involvement, the people of Bungoma South District will appreciate the need for gender equality.

 PROBLEM  STATEMENT

Poverty remains the biggest challenge facing the community. It is documented overwhelmingly  that families consist of more than four children, plus parental units. More so, sixty percent of the children are girls and all these families live on less than a dollar a day.

Frustration can clearly be seen amongst the youth, as hope for a better living is thin due to unemployment. The prevailing situations are the cause of incredible despair, frustration, anger and loss of hope among the youth. This has been the leading factor that has led the youth of Bungoma  South district to indulge in drug abuse, promiscuous behaviors and other anti-social behaviours  as a way to escape these insurmountable challenges, and also as a means to earn a living.

Some of the social problems that are specifically taking a toll on the youth in general more so the girl-child are:

·         HIV/AIDS and STDs

·         Unwanted pregnancies

·         Early motherhood

·         Increase in the number of street kids

·         Crime

·         Drug abuse

The poverty cycle recurs exponentially worse as the youth find it even harder to access jobs. Female children are particularly the hardest hit as they find themselves more vulnerable in this vicious cycle. Gender inequality remains a stark reality in Bungoma  leaving an additional burden on female children. The number of single young mothers is alarming and seems to be increasing by the day that is why Sanaa comes in to sensitize the community and occupy these vulnerable youth.

There is an immensity of reasons for the poverty that plagues Bungoma. Most of which are external factors. However, it is our view that through an increase in youth participation in  capacity building making use of their professional skills and talents under Sanaa thus getting a livelihood  the situation can be improved. These  means to a better future can be addressed through grassroots efforts of encouraging  and supporting the  unemployed idle Youths to make use of their talents through positive guidelines.

For our group, the main challenge is the lack of funds to produces Songs and other productions, furthermore, we  need funds to organize events once in a while as a means of getting more youth aboard the Sanaa Wagon.

JUSTIFICATION

Sanaa  Youth group  therefore comes as an alternative for the youth  by giving them hope and opportunity to overcome the challenges facing their lives by using their talents and skills .

Sanaa Youth Group bridges  gender equality and self awareness. Capacity building and skills programs geared towards financial independence in the future of  the youth.
